European Commission President: EU is ready for strong countermeasures, but remains open to trade negotiations
European Commission President Von der Leyen stated that the EU has prepared a strong counterplan and will implement it when necessary. The EU will carefully assess the relevant announcements made by the United States and respond appropriately. Von der Leyen emphasized that all response measures have been put on the negotiating table, but also warned that tariffs would exacerbate inflation, which is exactly the result the EU hopes to avoid. The EU needs to eliminate barriers remaining in the single market and expresses an open attitude towards trade negotiations. (Jinshi)
