Binance Founder Donates for Earthquake Relief in Thailand and Myanmar
The recent earthquake in Thailand and Myanmar has resulted in extensive damage, including flooding and building collapses. Zhao's donation is intended to provide immediate aid to those impacted by the disaster. In a social media post on March 28, Zhao expressed his concern for the safety of individuals in both countries and announced the financial support he would be providing. Binance and Binance Thailand will directly handle the distribution of funds if there are no third-party platforms available for donations. The earthquake, with its epicenter near Mandalay, Myanmar, has claimed the lives of at least 144 people, with rescue teams working tirelessly to save those trapped under debris. Myanmar's leader, Min Aung Hlaing, has called for international assistance in relief efforts following the disaster. Cryptocurrency donations have proven to be effective in providing timely aid during such crises due to their efficiency and low transaction costs, as seen in previous disasters like the Turkey-Syria earthquake and Maui wildfires in 2023. The generous donation by Binance's founder highlights the potential of crypto donations for quick and impactful humanitarian support in times of need.
