The founder of Aave Labs clarifies: Based on DAO consensus, there are no plans to launch a new token

PANews reported on March 17th, according to The Block, Aave Labs founder Stani Kulechov clarified on Sunday that he will not create a new token for the product Horizon proposed by Aave.

The company recently proposed Horizon, aiming to integrate real-world assets into decentralized finance, which sparked debate in the Aave community. A temperature check invited the community to provide feedback on Horizon's RWA product release targeting institutions. The controversial part of the proposal suggests that if a token is created, Aave DAO might receive 15% allocation and revenue sharing arrangements. This raised concerns: new tokens could dilute the value of existing AAVE tokens and undermine AAVE as the sole governance and utility token. Opposition was so strong that public figures like Marc Zeller from the Aave Chan Initiative openly stated they would not support the proposal in its current form. Kulechov clarified to X that Aave DAO is not interested in introducing additional tokens and developers will respect this consensus. As plans for a token have been cancelled, it remains unclear whether or not Aave Labs will continue with Horizon's deployment.
